Swords of Sorrow #1

Dynamite's six-part crossover event kicks off here, written by Gail Simone with art by Sergio Dávila, assembling some of pulp and horror fiction's most formidable women under one banner. J. Scott Campbell's cover brings them together in striking fashion: Vampirella commands the center in her signature red costume, flanked by a red-haired sword-wielding warrior in scale mail (Red Sonja), a dark-haired figure in silver armor bearing a blade, and a blonde woman in leopard print crouched at the forefront, all set against a stormy sky filled with bats. With "Blade One: Diving Towards Divinity" as its chapter title, this opener promises the kind of cross-universe adventure that fans of strong, sword-and-sorcery heroines won't want to miss.
