Marilyn loves Eddie, but Eddie is declining in popularity and growing increasingly insecure about their future together, leading her to end their engagement. When a charming man named David enters her life with promises of marriage, cabins, and starting a family, Marilyn initially accepts his proposal—but she cannot escape her lingering feelings for Eddie and the ghost of their past romance. As David and Marilyn prepare to leave town, Veda (presumably Eddie's new love interest) appears, and Marilyn realizes she must confront the reality that she and Eddie truly belong together, choosing to abandon David and return to Eddie's arms.
