Sweet Tooth: The Return #2

The second chapter of Jeff Lemire and José Villarrubia's DC Black Label miniseries delivers a cover as haunting as the series itself: a small, antlered silhouette stands deep inside a cave, gazing up at an enormous skull-shaped opening in the rock face, its hollow eyes glowing pale blue against a blood-red sky. The sheer scale of that ominous formation dwarfing the lone deer-child figure gives the image a quiet, dread-soaked weight that feels entirely at home in the mature, atmospheric world Lemire has crafted. If issue one drew you in, this 2021 installment makes it very clear the journey is only getting darker.
