Written by Mark Russell with art by Marco Santucci, the story explores themes of community, environmentalism, and identity through a fresh take on the Swamp Thing mythos.
In "The Beet Goes On," Swamp Thing finds himself at the center of a growing fascination as people flock to the bayou, drawn by rumors of his presence—unintended consequences for a creature already struggling to stay hidden. With Sunderland Corporation now desperate to eliminate the threat, they seek outside help, escalating the tension in a story written by Mark Russell and illustrated by Marco Santucci, whose dynamic art brings the eerie, tangled world of the swamp to life. The cover, also by Santucci, captures the unsettling allure of the bayou’s newest celebrity.
Swamp Thing ventures into the heart of Sunderland Foods after their new seed begins killing off the natural world. With Fatima watching his back and Sally caught in the crossfire, Mr. Sunderland’s desperate plan to capture and exploit the swamp’s guardian begins to unfold.
In the thick of the bayou, where curiosity and fear grow as thick as the vines, Swamp Thing finds himself hunted not just by corporate forces but by the very people drawn to his legend. As the tide of sightseers swells and Sunderland Corporation pushes deeper into the swamp with a dangerous agenda, Swamp Thing must navigate a web of deception—where even those who seek him may not be what they seem.
In "The Flower King," Swamp Thing confronts a cult that venerates him as a divine figure, forcing him to reckon with his place between humanity and the natural world. When he discovers that the Sunderland corporation has weaponized his own DNA to create deadly plant clones, he must decide whether to abandon humanity—or fight back with the power of the swamp itself.
In "The Courser," Swamp Thing ventures into the murky depths of the bayou to aid Professor Aliyah Wallis and her students, Justin and Ammon the Immortal, as they hunt a sunken slave ship. But beneath the surface, something ancient stirs—older than the marsh itself—and the real danger may not be the past, but what it has awakened.
In "The Ghost Light," Swamp Thing confronts a haunting revelation as the enigmatic Fifolet reveals a past tied to the murder of Alec Holland—once a man who helped take the life of the man who would become the swamp's guardian. Through fragmented memories and spectral echoes, the truth of that dark deed surfaces, forcing a reckoning between guilt, memory, and the fragile hope of redemption.
