Swamp Thing #5

This Dutch-language fifth installment of Floris Oudshoorn's comedic Swamp Thing series — subtitled Duikt weer op ("Surfaces Again") — brings the humor underwater, with the cover depicting a goofy cartoon crocodile-like creature clutching an umbrella on the sandy seabed, surrounded by curious fish, a friendly jellyfish, and looming shark silhouettes above. Oudshoorn's breezy, cartoonish linework gives the whole scene a playful charm that sets this Belgian-Dutch humor comic well apart from its American namesake. A delightful 2013 entry for fans of lighthearted all-ages comics with a distinctly European sensibility.
