This March 2005 Vertigo issue brings the third chapter of "Love in Vain" with an unsettling cover by Enrique Breccia that pulls no punches — a wide-eyed, white-haired young woman is cornered in what appears to be a medical setting, an IV bag hanging nearby, while massive fang-filled creatures loom over and around her from every direction. The painterly, atmospheric rendering gives the scene a nightmare quality that feels perfectly suited to Vertigo's mature-readers line. Joshua Dysart and Enrique Breccia continue their run on one of DC's most enduring horror titles, and this cover alone makes a compelling case to turn the page.
