"Mister Irwin—Be Ware of the Curse of Copperhead" involves a man named Irwin who discovers a mysterious note warning him of a curse while writing feverishly at night; the story escalates at an airport where an unusual delay occurs. Another story, featuring Julius Calistranno and a woman named Vivian Corday, involves Calistranno leaving Julius Blair after recounting how twenty years prior he and Calistranno performed a Vaudeville act together, with Blair later stalking the streets at night, suggesting a supernatural or threatening presence connected to their past.
Mr. Nobody, the voice of conscience itself, narrates this tale of Parker Travis, a man contemplating murder to inherit his uncle's fortune. Travis methodically orchestrates an elaborate scheme—recruiting a lawyer and a psychiatrist to declare his uncle mentally unfit and have him committed to an asylum—but his perfectly calculated plot begins to unravel in ways he never anticipated. With each calculated step, the forces he's set in motion spiral toward a reckoning that bedlam itself couldn't match.
In "Mr. Nobody's Clue Corner," a young man named Larry calls the police to report that his wealthy uncle, Andrew Ronson, has apparently taken his own life in the library of their suburban home. When Inspector Lee arrives to investigate, Larry recounts finding his uncle slumped at his desk moments after hearing a gunshot—but the inspector's examination of the scene may yet reveal more than meets the eye.
A writer travels to Louisiana to witness a forbidden voodoo ceremony in the swamp, but his curiosity comes with a price when he's cursed by the tribe's sacred copperhead serpent. Back in New York, he finds himself trapped in a deadly game where the curse seems to follow him—and someone close to him may be using ancient superstition to settle a very modern score. As danger closes in, the mysterious Mr. Nobody emerges from the shadows to uncover the truth behind the curse.
Actress Sherry Flippe gets her big break—a screen test at G.M.G. Studios arranged by talent scout Mr. Bruce Ballew—but her Hollywood dream quickly becomes a nightmare when a real theft unfolds on set and she's accused of being part of the crime. With her reputation on the line and only five minutes to prove her innocence, Sherry must use her wits to uncover the truth behind a stolen diamond necklace and expose the real culprits.
A wealthy man dies under mysterious circumstances—the police call it a heart attack, but the threatening note found in his locked office tells a different story. The Grey Mask, operating undercover as Dr. Malcolm Muir, uncovers a scheme far deadlier than anyone suspected, one involving a hidden radio weapon and a killer driven by years of resentment. With only two minutes to spare and enemies closing in, he races to expose the truth before the killer strikes again.
When a hypnotist named Caligstranno uses his powers on theatre manager Julius Blair to protect a young woman, Blair becomes consumed by jealousy—convinced she's the reincarnation of a woman he lost decades ago to his former vaudeville partner. Consumed by rage and a twisted need for revenge, Blair sets out to destroy them both, but his scheme spirals into chaos that forces shocking truths about the past to surface. "Caligstranno the Great" is a dark tale of obsession and hidden connections where the line between mentalism and madness blurs dangerously.
In Central City, crime boss Nick Valcone rules with an iron fist—no one kills without his permission—until his trusted lieutenant Jim Daughty requests a license to murder an unknown rival and receives it without hesitation. When Daughty's plan goes fatally wrong that very night, the consequences ripple through the underworld in ways neither he nor Valcone could have foreseen, setting the stage for a brutal reckoning. A taut tale of ambition, betrayal, and the dark irony of absolute power.
