In "De nye menneskene," Kryptonian archaeologists Min-Tor, Jan-Ar, and Sala uncover an ancient globe revealing the forgotten war between Erkol and Xan. After Xan's bomb ended the conflict, a strange legacy remained: all babies conceived on that day in Erkol were born without thumbs but with enlarged heads. Decades later, the exiled children—now aware of their hidden telekinesis—seek to return home to prevent a new doomsday weapon from destroying Erkol, only to find their world already lost.
