Superman returns to New Krypton, as Commander Gor argues before the council that New Krypton must prepare for war with Earth. In the midst of the debate, a recovering Zod enters just long enough to appoint Kal-El as temporary general in his place. General El's first order of business is ensuring that Jupiter's moon Callisto is safely brought into orbit around New Krypton, but the operation is interrupted by Thanagarians, leaving the moon hurtling directly towards New Krypton.
