While the Green Lanterns are being given a tour of New Krypton by Tyr-Van, Kal-El is called away by Zod and briefed on tracking down convicts who have escaped the destruction of the Phantom Zone. Kal and his unit rejoin the Green Lanterns just as convict Val-Ty makes an appearance. Zod orders Lieutenant Nar to execute the criminal, but Commander El insists that they subdue him. After Val-Ty is placed in custody and the Green Lanterns leave, Zod arrests Kal and Nar and charges them with treason.
