Superman: World of New Krypton #2
In "World of New Krypton, Part Two," Superman grapples with his new role as Commander in the military of New Krypton, balancing family moments with his aunt and cousin Supergirl at an artists guild gala. When called to quell a herd of rampaging thought-beasts, he returns to find the gala under siege—hostages taken by a labor guild faction, with Commander Gor holding labor members in retaliation. Written by Greg Rucka and James Robinson, with art by Pete Woods and colors by Brad Anderson, this issue deepens the tension in a society still learning to coexist. The cover by Gary Frank captures the moment’s gravity.

After Superman begins his duties as Commander in New Krypton's military and meets his unit, he visits with his aunt and his cousin Supergirl at a gala held by the artists guild. After some family time, Kal-El is called away by Zod, who orders him to subdue a herd of rampaging thought-beasts. After completing his mission, however, Superman discovers that a faction of the labor guild has taken hostages at the gala and that as a counter-measure Commander Gor has taken members of the labor guild as hostages of his own.
