Part three of the "Infestation" arc arrives in this June 2001 chapter from writer Marv Wolfman and artist Paco Medina, and the cover by Dale Keown makes the stakes bracingly clear. An armored, clearly corrupted Lois Lane lunges forward with crackling purple energy, fangs bared on a visibly struggling Superman beside her — with a skeletal armored figure and a fleeing shape visible in the background.
