In "Rückkehr der Superman-Insel," Superman is kidnapped by three invisible people and brought to Frank Hardy, a former college classmate of Clark Kent whose life was altered decades ago by a mysterious psycho-extractor. Now driven by resentment over being overshadowed and forgotten, Hardy plans to use a psychokinetically charged cannon to make the Moon habitable—only for the device to dangerously overload, forcing Superman to intervene. Written by Cary Bates and illustrated by Curt Swan with inks by Murphy Anderson, this 1981 tale features a cover by Ross Andru and Dick Giordano.

Superman wird von drei unsichtbaren Menschen gekidnappt und zu Frank Hardy gebracht. Damals in der Collegezeit von Clark hat er ihn und drei andere Studenten mit einem Psycho-Extraktor bestrahlt, der sich später auf sie auswirken sollte. Der Schurke ist sauer, da seine Entdeckungen immer in den Schatten gestellt wurden und seine Schlagzeilen immer auf Seite 64 verbannt wurden. Diesmal will er mit Hilfe der Psychokanone den Mond bewohnbar machen, doch als sich die Kanone überlädt kann nur Superman die Katastrophe verhindern.
