“The Feral Man of Steel”

Part of DC's 1994 Elseworlds line, this annual imagines a wildly different Man of Steel with "The Feral Man of Steel" — and the cover by Mike Mignola says it all. Under a full jungle moon, a figure draped in a tiger's pelt and bearing Superman's iconic chest symbol stands surrounded by wolves and a prowling black panther, with a large bird of prey looming in the shadowy canopy above. Mignola's atmospheric linework gives the whole scene a brooding, primal energy that makes this Elseworlds reimagining immediately compelling.
