Superman #6
Part of DC's New 52 initiative, Superman #6 presents a deeply unsettling cover image by George Pérez: a snarling Superman looms over a fallen Supergirl amid a crowd of panicked onlookers, fires burning in the city behind them and a helicopter hovering overhead. The tagline — "When he turns bad… RUN!" — frames the Man of Steel not as protector but as threat, making this a genuinely gripping entry in the 2012 relaunch. With a creative team that includes Nicola Scott, Trevor Scott, and a host of seasoned talents, this is a well-crafted chapter in the early days of the New 52 Superman.

Supergirl arrives just in time to save Billy McCoy, so the creature who looks like Superman turns its attention to her. In the midst of their fight, Lois' shouts rouse the real Superman, who is floating in space. Realizing he is psychically linked to the creature, Superman uncovers that it is a creation of nanites from Jazuur -- a planet once visited by the Collector of Worlds -- who are trying to create the kind of order they were programmed to create on Jazuur. Superman returns to Earth and takes care of the nanites, throwing their remains into the sun.
