When he rushes to the hospital to check on Billy, who remains mysteriously linked to his luchs, the Man of Steel experiences a strange feedback from his powers—leading him on a desperate journey through space to rescue a stranded alien and devise a way to restore his strength in time to face the looming threat. Written by Dennis O'Neil and illustrated by Curt Swan with inks by Murphy Anderson, the issue features a striking cover by Nick Cardy.

Superman fliegt zu einem fremden Raumschiff und wird freundlich von den Raumfahrern begrüßt. Nach dem Besuch im UFO fliegt er ins Krankenhaus um nach Billy zu sehen, der immer noch mit seinem Luchs das Bewusstsein getauscht hat. Als der Stählerne ihm seine Kräfte demonstrieren will erlebt er ein Kräfte-Feedback. Er fliegt in den Weltraum und findet einen der Ausserirdischen hilflos im All treibend. Mit seiner Hilfe bauen sie ein Gerät, dass das Feedback kurzfristig auf Billy überträgt, so dass der Stählerne wieder in vollen Umfang seine Kräfte gegen die ausserirdischen Eroberer richten kann.
