Bei einem Anschlag auf die S.T.A.R.-Laboratorien lassen zwei der Attentäter ihren dritten Kollegen im Stich als Superman sie schnappt und so wird er radioaktiv verstrahlt. Schwer verletzt schleppt er sich zu Lex Luthor der verspricht ihm zu helfen. Doch der Erzgauner hat andere Pläne und setzt ihm weiteren Strahlen aus. Nach einem Jahr kann sich das Opfer befreien und schwört auf Rache. Mittlerweile hat Nat Tryon gewaltige radioaktive Kräfte erhalten die sogar den Stählernen gefährlich werden können.
