“The Tender Trap”

In "The Tender Trap," Superman tries to settle back into his Metropolis routine, but old tensions flare when Lana arrives—prompting a heated exchange with Lois. Before Clark can sort things out, the Parasite resurfaces, forcing Superman into a fight that ends in a narrow victory, thanks to Wonder Woman’s aid. As Lois storms off, her path crosses unexpectedly with Lex Luthor, setting the stage for something new. Written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by Ed McGuinness, with cover art by McGuinness and Cam Smith, this 2000 issue blends personal drama with superhero action in a story that feels both grounded and charged.

Having returned to his Metropolis routine, Superman is visited by Lana, which causes another fight with Lois. But before Clark can deal with that problem, the Parasite returns. With Wonder Woman's help, Superman stops the Parasite's rampage, but fails to apprehend him. Lois, none to happy to see another one of Superman's female friends in town, seemingly stomps out and right up to Lex Luthor.
