In "Der Anti-Superheld", Superman faces a terrifying threat when Clark Kent is attacked by Kurx, a desperate alien wracked by feverish delusions. After subduing the unstable alien, Superman brings him to the Fortress of Solitude, where a shocking revelation unfolds: Kurx’s mind has been twisted by Vartox, who used him to siphon energy from the fever’s toxins—leaving Kurx convinced that Superman is the true enemy. Written by Cary Bates and illustrated with striking detail by Kurt Schaffenberger, with inks by Vince Colletta and colors by Jerry Serpe, this 1978 issue features a cover by Kurt Schaffenberger that captures the tension of the moment.

Clark Kent wird von dem vom Fieberwahn geschüttelten Kurx angegriffen. Während des Kampfes bricht Kurx zusammen und Superman bringt ihn in die Festung der Einsamkeit. Dort stellen sie fest, daß der Ausserirdische vollkommen geheilt ist. Er zeigt dem Stählernen ein Abbild des Verursachers seines Fiebers. Vartox hat ihn benutzt um durch die Energietoxine bei seinem Fieberanfall seine eigenen Kräfte zu erneuern. Dadurch verwirrte sich der Geist von Vartox allerdings und er hält Superman für den Schuldigen.
