Superboy #44

The tagline says it all — "Battle of the Ages!" — and Sal Buscema and John Stanisci's cover delivers exactly that, with Superboy caught mid-fall down a sheer cliff face as warriors from wildly different eras close in from every direction: gun-toting fighters below, spear-throwers at the base, a golden-armored figure at lower right, and an angry mob hurling boulders from the ridge above. It's a thrillingly chaotic image that suggests the Kid is seriously outnumbered across time itself. Writer Barbara Kesel's "Going Nowhere" promises to be anything but.
