Superboy #4/1981
In "Clark Kent... Held wider Willen!", Superboy's secret rescue of billionaire Huxley takes an unexpected turn when Clark Kent is mistakenly exposed as the hero—leading to a tense standoff over gratitude and inheritance. Written by Cary Bates and illustrated by Kurt Schaffenberger, with inks by Dave Hunt and colors by Jerry Serpe, this 1981 issue captures a rare moment where Clark’s identity becomes a burden, all set against a cover by Schaffenberger and Hunt.
When Superboy secretly rescues billionaire Paul J. Huxley, he never expects the man to uncover his identity as Clark Kent. Huxley wants to thank him, but when Clark refuses a million-dollar reward, he inadvertently earns the resentment of Devon Huxley, the only relative who believes she’s lost her inheritance.
Superbaby, enthralled by a TV show about Aladdin and the magic lamp, secretly uses his powers to grant small wishes for the visiting Mason children—Linda and Willy—while the Kents and the Langs are nearby. When the mysterious effects begin to ripple through the neighborhood, even Prof. Lewis Lang starts to notice something odd in the air.
