“Watery Grave, Part 2: Kill Them All!”

The stark black void of this 1995 cover makes the bottom-strip image hit even harder — Superboy in his leather jacket and S-shield shirt, mouth open in a desperate gasp, being forcefully submerged in churning, bubbling water. It's a genuinely unsettling visual from penciler Tom Grummett and inker Karl Kesel, selling the threat of "Watery Grave, Part 2 of 3" with real urgency. Writer Karl Kesel and artist Tom Grummett were clearly not letting the Kid of Steel off easy this arc.
