Superboy #14
In "Sunburst, Feind der Erde!", Superboy races to Japan when a movie star playing a superhero begins mirroring his on-screen powers—only this time, they’re real. Written by Paul Kupperberg and illustrated by Alex Saviuk, with inks by Kurt Schaffenberger and colors by Jerry Serpe, the story unfolds as Clark and Lisa watch a film that blurs the line between fiction and danger. The cover, by Gil Kane, captures the moment the illusion shatters.
When Superboy and Lisa Davis watch a movie about the Japanese superhero Sunburst, they’re stunned to see the actor—Takeo Sato—miraculously replicate the film’s powers in real life. As Sunburst begins committing crimes, Superboy follows him to Japan, only to face a foe whose abilities are far more dangerous than any stunt or screen performance. With help from Inspektor Yanagimoto and the support of his parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent, Superboy must stop a rising threat before it’s too late.
When personal tensions rise between Christopher King and Victoria Grant after Vicky reconnects with her ex, Brad Mann, the two must set aside their differences to stop the dangerous duo of Feuerstern and Radiator from sabotaging a secret mission to save the ozone layer. Amid shifting loyalties and mounting pressure, the team—joined by Mr. Dash, Frannie Nash, and Glinda Parks—races to prevent ecological disaster.
