“The Clown Comes Back”

In "The Clown Comes Back," Magno and Davey relax after believing their nemesis is gone—only to find themselves drawn into the circus life, unaware that beneath a cemetery, the Clown is far from defeated. With a deadly new scheme brewing and a killer ape at the heart of his plan, the Clown sets his sights on a serum that could make him master of America. Written by Robert Turner and illustrated with gritty flair by Jim Mooney—both interior and cover—this 1941 Ace Magazines classic blends pulp menace with early superhero suspense.

Convinced that their avowed enemy, the Clown, is dead, Magno and Davey decide to take in the local circus. Meanwhile, in his underground laboratory beneath a cemetery, the Clown is very hard at work and decides to visit the circus in order to see a killer ape that has been stricken with epamonia, a rare jungle malady.
