This August 1946 Dell anthology puts Dick Tracy front and center in a dramatic cover scene: the square-jawed detective in his signature yellow trenchcoat and green hat grapples with a bald villain in a dark tunnel, while a mysterious figure peers down through a hatch above, bathed in a cone of light. Alongside Tracy, the right-hand strip portraits promise a full roster of beloved newspaper comic stars — Smitty, Orphan Annie, Tiny Tim, Winnie Winkle, and Harold Teen — making this a genuine variety package for ten cents. A terrific snapshot of mid-1940s comics, when the Sunday funnies and the spinner rack were inseparable.
