This November 1944 Dell anthology packs five beloved newspaper-strip favorites — Dick Tracy, Smitty, Tiny Tim, Harold Teen, and Winnie Winkle — into one ten-cent package, a genuine bargain for the era. Walter Berndt's cover spotlights Smitty in a wonderfully chaotic office scene: the freckled boy sits at a desk clutching a telephone receiver while a grinning bald man gleefully snips the phone cord with scissors, sending a spark flying. A fishbowl perched nearby adds a perfectly absurd finishing touch to the whole mischievous tableau.
