“Someone Else's Man”

In "Someone Else's Man," Patti's quiet life with Dave’s rock band takes a surprising turn when a producer’s unexpected visit forces her to confront her place in the group—and in Dave’s life. Written by Joe Gill and illustrated by Hal Grauer with inks by Vince Colletta, the story captures a moment of doubt and clarity, sparked by a single conversation and a Beatles poster that changes everything. The cover by Pat Masulli and Dick Giordano perfectly captures the bittersweet tension of the moment.

Patti sings in Dave's rock band. When informed that a big producer is in the audience one night, Patti passes out before the performance and the group goes on without her. The producer wants to sign up Dave's group, but changes his mind when he finds out Patti is in the group. He even suggests the band members have no romances except with their fans. Hearing this, Patti feels she needs to leave Dave. But as they pass by a poster of the Beatles, Dave points out that John, Ringo and George are married. So they get married and Dave's group goes on to have a successful career.
