Suicide Squad: Raise the Flag #1

The original Suicide Squad creative team of John Ostrander, Javi Pina, and Robin Riggs reunites in 2007 for this eight-issue series, kicking things off with "Raise the Dead." The cover by John K. Snyder III says everything about the tone: a squad of hard-edged operatives — including a red-clad woman, a hulking armored figure leveling a weapon, and two fighters squaring off in the foreground — assembled against a roiling fireball that fills the sky like a second sun.
