Using his giant squid sub, Commander Kraken (a pirate with a clawed hook for one hand) wreaks havoc on the surface attacking ships carrying Radium. He eventually captures Dorma and Diane Arliss and tries to use them to get Sub-Mariner to join his group of pirates. Ultimately Namor frees the women and escapes, luring Commander Kraken to a deep part of the ocean where the real Kraken (a gigantic octopus) lives. The Kraken destroys Commander Kraken and his sub.
