String Divers #3

Issue three of IDW's String Divers: Effect Requires Cause arrives with a cover by Ashley Wood that's immediately arresting — a lone figure clutching what appears to be a weapon stands defiantly small against a massive, multi-headed creature rendered in Wood's signature scratchy, painterly style. The Latin inscription "Salve Calor Mortem" anchors the bottom of the composition with an unsettling sense of ritual menace. It's a striking 2015 entry in this IDW series, with Wood's earthy, textured palette making the tension between human and beast feel genuinely primordial.
