Strange Tales II #3

Ivan Brunetti's cover for this third and final issue of Strange Tales II is an absolute delight — a gym-themed comic strip grid packed with chibi-style Marvel heroes going through their workout routines, from Thor and Captain America on treadmills to the Hulk and Doctor Strange doing strength training, MODOK struggling with exercise equipment, and Spider-Man facing off against a Green Goblin on the badminton court. The upper title panel even throws in a swimming Falcon, a dangling Deadpool, and what appears to be Wolverine dancing to a boombox alongside the X-Men. It's a wonderfully playful send-up of superhero life that captures exactly the spirit of creative experimentation this anthology series has championed throughout its 2011 run.
