Strange Adventures #3
The penultimate issue of this Vertigo anthology miniseries arrives in January 2000 with a wonderfully unsettling cover by Edvin Biuković — a torn film-strip design revealing three distinct vignettes: a wide-eyed man clutching a cigarette, a glowing-eyed mechanical figure looming in shadow, and two figures riding in a car through a dusty, chaotic landscape. Three short stories share the bill: Joe R. Lansdale and Richard Corben team up for "The Split," joined by Mark Schultz and John Totleben on "Metal Fatigue," and Doselle Young and Pat McEown closing things out with "Driving Miss 134." It's a satisfying sampler of mature-readers sci-fi and weird fiction, exactly what Vertigo's anthology format does best.
