Strange Adventures #2
Issue two of this eight-part DC series from 2009 raises the cosmic stakes immediately, with a desperate figure in white-and-red star-emblazoned armor crying out that someone is stealing their stars — and sure enough, two blazing suns loom ominously in the purple, star-flecked sky behind him. Flanking this central hero are a red-suited figure brandishing a ray gun on the left and a grey-skinned, Superman-insignia-clad figure on the right, hinting at a galaxy-spanning crisis that stretches even DC's heaviest hitters to their limits. Writer Jim Starlin and cover artist Jim Starlin (inked by Rob Hunter) set a vivid, wide-screen tone that makes "Erroneous Assumptions" feel like a thrilling entry point into some serious interstellar trouble.
