Skottie Young and Humberto Ramos's Marvel series about a school for young sorcerers hits its second issue with a cover that perfectly captures the chaos of magical education gone sideways. A student sits at a classroom desk as a glowing spellbook erupts with crackling pink energy and a massive tentacled creature surges upward, while a flaming-skulled classmate reaches in from the right and wide-eyed peers — including a figure with wild horn-like protrusions and another with a pink, monstrous face — react in alarm all around her. Ramos's linework, colored brilliantly by Edgar Delgado, makes this ordinary school-desk setting feel wonderfully unhinged, promising that life at Strange Academy is anything but a typical semester.
