Stormwatch: P.H.D. #4

Doug Mahnke's cover for this April 2007 WildStorm series sets a genuinely unsettling tone: a dark-haired young woman stands bound in heavy chains, arms crossed over her chest, while an enormous hooded, skeletal figure looms behind her in a sickly green light, its ragged wings or cloak spreading wide across the image. The contrast between the vulnerable figure in the foreground and the menacing supernatural presence towering over her makes for a striking composition that fits the series' "Post Human Division" premise perfectly. Christos Gage and Mahnke's Stormwatch: P.H.D. continues to carve out its own moody corner of the WildStorm universe with this fourth issue.
