Stormwatch #12

Peter Milligan's New 52 Stormwatch run reaches its twelfth chapter with a cover that earns its bold "Martian Rampage!" tagline — a powerful green-skinned Martian figure dominates the composition, his tentacle-like limbs lashing out to ensnare two Stormwatch teammates while a third combatant struggles in the lower left corner amid a hail of shattered debris. Scott Clark's pencils and Dave Beaty's inks give the scene a real kinetic intensity, with the blue-and-white cosmic backdrop making those vivid greens and purples pop. If this is how the creative team of Milligan, Will Conrad, and Júlio Ferreira are building toward the story "Nefertiti's Bust," things have clearly escalated well past any civilized negotiation.
