Stillwater #6

The cover of Stillwater #6 speaks volumes through a single chilling image: a group photograph of several armed, military-clad figures being cut apart by a large pair of golden scissors, with torn fragments of the photo already scattered across a red-and-grey abstract background. Ramón K. Pérez's linework gives the composition an unsettling intimacy — these look like comrades, yet someone is methodically excising one of them from the picture. Chip Zdarsky's series continues to mine deeply human anxieties, and this 2021 Skybound/Image release promises that "It's My Duty" will be anything but a straightforward tale of loyalty.
