Stillwater #15

Ramón K. Pérez's cover for Stillwater #15 is genuinely unsettling — a face rendered in cool purple tones stares upward, mouth agape, one eye hollow and pale while the other glows an eerie pink, the whole image surrounded by crumbling, fragmented debris and a scattering of dark red blotches. A pink feather drifts near the chin, lending a strange, almost tender contrast to the surrounding decay. Chip Zdarsky's series continues here with "Chapter Fifteen: Peace and Love," and that title feels deliciously at odds with the disquiet Pérez and colorist Mike Spicer have conjured on this striking 2022 Image release.
