This anthology issue contains two crime stories. "Crime at the Carnival" depicts Red Fresno planning to rob a payroll at a carnival, but is apprehended when his scheme goes awry. "Mad Trigger-Finger" follows Charlie Zack (nicknamed "Angel-Face"), a criminal whose good looks mask a cold heart, as he becomes entangled in a murder investigation; after killing State Trooper Navarre during a robbery, Zack flees but is ultimately captured when police discover hidden loot and guns in his truck, leading to his conviction and life sentence on May 22, 1947.

Charlie Zack, a baby-faced killer with ice in his veins, muscles his way into Silk Fletcher's bootlegging operation during the Prohibition era by proving he's far more dangerous than his pretty-boy appearance suggests. Once he's earned Fletcher's trust as a bodyguard, Zack begins positioning himself closer to power—but his ambitions may be pulling him toward a collision course with the mob boss himself. As Fletcher's empire reaches its peak, neither man seems to realize how close the reckoning is.

Crimson Trail of Murder
10 pp · Crime

Three violent criminals—Al Brady, Clarence Lee Shaffer, and Rhuel James Dahlhover—escalate from petty theft to armed robbery and cop killing, leaving a trail of brutality across the Midwest. As their confidence grows and their crimes mount, the gang pulls off a major jewelry heist and narrowly escapes a police shootout, only to find themselves locked in an Indiana jail awaiting trial. With guns, audacity, and ruthlessness on their side, they plot their next move.
