A secondary story, "Horse Sense" by Neal Douglas, follows young Larry Palmer of the Leaning P Ranch as he trains his pony "Count" for rodeo competitions while dealing with horse thieves and outlaws, ultimately using his trained horse and quick wits to capture the criminals and recover stolen animals.
Pyroman—the electrically-powered alter ego of chemist Dick Martin—faces a sinister plot when Nazi agents steal a vital new invention from Professor Clark's laboratory: an electro-magnetic projector designed to shield America's coasts from enemy attack. Held captive at a remote lighthouse, Pyroman must battle the German operatives and recover the weapon before they can spirit it away—all while his electrical powers are mysteriously depleted by the very machinery meant to protect his country. The fate of America's defense hangs in the balance as hero and villain clash in a desperate race against the tide.
