Starman #13

The cover of this August 1989 issue says it all: Rampage — the fierce, red-mohawked powerhouse — charges forward with a grip on a glowing, energy-surrounded Starman, and the tagline "Rampage is back — but who is the REAL threat?" adds a layer of intrigue to what's already a visually charged confrontation. Tom Lyle's cover art captures both figures with real physicality, the rocky, shadowy setting lending the standoff a wild, dangerous atmosphere. Stern, Lyle, and Smith bring their "Ghosts and Monsters" story to a series that was quietly delivering some of DC's most entertaining superhero action in 1989.
