Starfire #8
The final issue of DC's 1977 sword-and-sorcery series goes out swinging — cover artists Mike Vosburg and Vince Colletta pit Starfire against a massive, glowing-eyed spider creature as she leaps forward with blade raised, flanked by two sword-wielding companions in what looks like an otherworldly arena with a futuristic city looming in the background. The cover tagline promises "Steel Clashes with Sorcery" in "The Dwellers of the Dark Domain!," and the scene absolutely delivers on that premise. It's a vivid, energetic send-off for a heroine who spent her short run proving that post-apocalyptic fantasy had a genuine home at DC.
