Written by Kevin J. Anderson with art by Dario Carrasco Jr., the story continues the epic saga of the ancient Jedi and Sith, focusing on the conflict between the fallen Jedi Exar Kun and the Republic as the Sith War erupts across the galaxy. It serves as a key chapter in the Tales of the Jedi saga, bridging events from earlier stories like 'Dark Lords of the Sith.'
In "Edge of the Whirlwind," Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma push forward their grand design to resurrect the Sith, now deep in the shadows of Ossus. While Kun seeks a legendary Sith Holocron hidden within the planet’s ancient library, Ulic works to forge a powerful alliance with the warrior people led by Mandalore—laying the foundation for a dark empire reborn.
In "The Battle of Coruscant," Ulic Qel-Droma, driven by ambition and years of training, seeks to prove himself worthy of the Jedi elite—only to face a deeper trial not of power, but of self. As the fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance, he must confront the true test of a Jedi: mastery over the self.
In "The Trial of Ulic Qel-Droma," the fallen Jedi stands before his former peers, accused of succumbing to the dark side. As the Jedi Council weighs his fate, a greater threat emerges—Exar Kun, once a student, now corrupts his own apprentices into Sith assassins, turning them against the very masters who once taught him.
In "Jedi Holocaust," the fragile peace of the Jedi Order shatters as Exar Kun and his fanatical Brotherhood of the Sith turn on their former masters. With Cay, Nomi Sunrider, and Sylvar standing at the front lines, the battle between Jedi and former Jedi becomes a clash of ideals, loyalty, and destiny—each side certain they are right, and neither willing to back down.
In "Brother Against Brother," the bond of blood fractures into war as Jedi brothers Cay and Ulic Qel-Droma command opposing forces on the ancient world of Ossus. With Cay leading a band of idealistic, untested students and Ulic at the head of a growing Dark Jedi army, the fate of legendary Jedi relics hangs in the balance as their clash threatens to shatter the Order itself.
