A corrupted C-3PO looms enormous against a fiery red sky on this striking 2023 cover by Leinil Francis Yu and Romulo Fajardo Jr., his eyes blazing an unnerving purple as a swarm of similarly possessed droids — combat units and an R2-series among them — closes in around a red-lightsaber-wielding Darth Vader on the volcanic world of Mustafar. The tagline "First, It Comes for the Metal…" sets an ominous tone that writer Charles Soule and artist Luke Ross carry through "Scourge of the Droids Part 3," with colors by Alex Sinclair. Watching Vader face down an army of machine minds gone wrong is a genuinely unsettling premise, and this issue delivers that tension right from the cover.
