Oct 2007 · IDW · 3.99 USD

In this 2007 IDW Star Trek tale, set before the original series, Spock—still new to the Enterprise under Captain Christopher Pike—finds himself at the center of a tense diplomatic mission to Magefferus-3, where warring factions are on the brink of conflict. When the landing party is captured, it's Spock’s unshakable composure that surprises the locals, earning them a reprieve not for their mission, but for the chance to understand him. Written by James Patrick and illustrated by Josep Maria Beroy, with colors by Mario Boon and Andrew Elder and letters by Chris Mowry, the issue features a cover by Zach Howard.

Story is set before the time period of the original TV show, when Spock has only just joined the crew of Enterprise and the captain is Christopher Pike. The Enterprise goes to Magefferus-3 to help bring peace between the various warrior groups there. Meanwhile there is some dissent as to whether a Vulcan belongs on the Enterprise crew. The Enterprise landing party is ambushed and captured, but Spock's fearless calm intrigues the natives, who spare the landing party solely to learn more about Spock.
