“Siege in Superspace”

This Gold Key issue from 1974 drops the Enterprise crew right into the chaos hinted at by the cover's bold tagline — "Trapped in Superspace, the Enterprise crew is relentlessly hunted by a terrifying war machine!" George Wilson's painted cover captures the tension vividly: Spock and a red-shirted crew member scramble in the foreground while massive, plant-encrusted creature-like war machines loom and claw overhead, with a blazing energy beam cutting across the scene. Photo insets of Spock and Kirk anchor the top corner, giving the whole composition that distinctive Gold Key charm that made these issues such a treat for Trek fans in 1974.
