“The Unhappy Hunting Grounds”

In "The Unhappy Hunting Grounds," a tragic accident leaves a once-great pilot blind and his son heartbroken—until Robin steps in to lift their spirits by launching a model airplane club. With the promise of building their own Bat-Planes, the boys find joy in flight, unaware that a criminal gang has rigged a remote control beam to steal the planes and use them for a jewel heist. Written by David Vern and illustrated by Bob Kane, with a cover by Fred Ray, this 1950 DC adventure blends wartime heroism with the quiet magic of childhood hope.
