When Jenny falls in love with an aspiring artist, he doesn't have any money to buy her an expensive present so he paints her portrait. But at the height of her happiness, her father reveals he is bankrupt, then dies in a car accident the next day. Soon Jenny realizes that the artist only wanted to marry her for her money. Jenny goes to work and her life turns around when she meets Dave. She falls in love with Dave, but learns his secret from Amanda after she discovers her portrait in Dave's flat.
