Spooky #71

Harvey Comics' "tuff little ghost" is in rare form on this issue #71, as Spooky charges forward with a fierce scowl, sending a startled scarecrow — stuffed with straw and tumbling backward — flying through the purple night sky along with a scatter of hats and a crescent moon overhead. A carved jack-o'-lantern sits nearby, perfectly framing the Halloween-tinged mischief unfolding at 12 cents a copy. It's a warm, wonderfully silly slice of 1962 Harvey charm that captures exactly why Spooky earned his reputation as the ghost who could hold his own.
