Harvey Comics' pint-sized specter is in fine form on this 1956 cover, where Spooky — top hat firmly in place and mischief written all over his ghostly face — swoops down on a speeding red steam locomotive whose wide-eyed engine looks every bit as startled as the engineer peeking from the cab window. At ten cents, this is cheerful, all-ages fun from the era when Harvey's humor line was firing on all cylinders, and the promise of "Happy Haunting Grounds" inside only adds to the appeal.
